I have removed the link to the ideas for improving co-ordination page. The project seems to have passed those ideas by. I will say that I was surprised by the negative flavor of your comments there; you obviously do not remember, but I wrote that page after a conversation we had where you expressed both openness and interest in thinking about how to make the project "makier".

I'm sorry if I misunderstood your comments about make-oriented design. My sense is that I'm interested in your ideas, and not convinced that I'm going to implement them. But mostly I still don't know what they are. WuLi 17:21, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

I also removed your comment about separating out the documentation (site-specific vs. general). I think we can both agree to just go ahead and do that; you can replace the comment if you feel that there's a problem in that direction.

The intention is to encourage more people than the two of us to contribute to this wiki, so it would be considerate to tell them what the expectations are. Maybe I can put a small note on the PE main page or something. WuLi 17:23, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

I am not sure, though, why the latex stuff should be general instead of specific. I don't see why we shouldn't have latex at the same level as everything else; similarly I would like to see tools that would allow other things to be handled in as cool a way as latex is (e.g. default filenames, and default display modes).

The general vs. specific distinction comes down to what is going to be included in the release version of PE. Right now I'm thinking it'll only support latex, and include instructions on how to support programming languages, because they all have security issues. Or maybe I can do a latex-only configuration option for open wikis and a more-inclusive option for private wikis. But latex support is part of PE for sure, as it's the central reason and the main selling point. WuLi 17:21, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
What defaults would you like to see? Unless I forgot, this sounds like a new request. WuLi 17:26, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
